Philosophy

My design philosophy is simple: "Affordable, Unique, & Functional". Why shouldn't you be able to have a design that is as special as you are, does what you want, and doesn't burn a hole in your pocket? - And that goes for both websites and graphic designs!

Let me tell you a little story: I have a friend who needed a website. After waiting over a year, and spending $8000, she was so excited to get her online business up and running! However, the company she hired handed her a tired looking site, with a cheap clipart logo, that was made on a template which would remind you of a dozen other sites. Because there was no flexibility in the template, it stretches oddly, and is terrible for e-commerce because it makes her products look bad in comparison!

Another friend showed me a website she paid $3000 for, which was nothing more than a template with her information plugged into it. They had not even customized it for her! I later found that same template on the internet, being sold by the creator to developers for $39.95. Can you believe it? Still other friends have shown me recent websites being sold that are outdated, non-functional, and look as though it was a middle school computer class project done in the mid-nineties.

We now live in a digital world, where most everyone is connected by the internet, or to the web via cell phones. Newspapers are being trumped by internet news, and phone books are increasingly being used as booster seats - not to look up information! Why go find a giant yellow book that is unorganized, outdated, and riddled with typos when you can go to any search engine and almost immediately find out the phone number to your favorite business. Not only the phone number, but a website can also tell you their hours, give you an online job application, or even show you their restaurant's menu.

If you don't have a website now, why not?

On the other hand, an old, outdated, or poorly designed website can cause your business to suffer. You never get a second chance to make a first impression. Your website will be the first impression many will have of your business. What does your website say about your business?

You don't have to pay a fortune (nor should you need to) to obtain a well designed, professional looking, and highly functional website. A beautiful site can be done on a budget! This goes for print design as well. Well designed logos, business cards, and brochures can go a long way towards projecting the professional appearance you desire!

Take a few moments to browse my portfolio. If you like what you see, fill out the form at the bottom of the page to send me a quick email. I will get back to you shortly with a Wishlist. When I say Wishlist, I mean it! Pretend you've stumbled upon a magic genie lamp for graphic design. Rub the lamp and then tell me your wildest fantasies about your perfect website, your perfect logo, your perfect brochure. No wish is too big or too small - at this point it's still a wish, right?

After I receive your Wishlist, I will set up a time to consult with you in regards to your specific needs. At our meeting (which can be done in person or over the phone, depending on distance), we will discuss your list, and what is possible. We will also discuss your budget for the project, and make sure that everything you need can be done within your budget. This consultation is entirely free, and will hopefully leave you with a better idea of what you want, regardless of who you choose to design it.

Go ahead. Dream a little! Isn't your business worth it?

About

Born in West Virginia on the Ohio River in 1976, I was the first child of two, in a small family living in a small town.

As far back as I can remember, I've been two things, inquisitive and creative.  If you wanted to occupy me for hours, give me something t
o create, or something to tear apart. My favorite activities were drawing, painting, and making things.  I remember taking my little brother’s action figures apart, and putting them back together wearing different “outfits”.

For my 12th birthday, my grandparents gave me a Sanyo “portable” computer. It felt like it weighed a ton! The computer had no internal drive, two external 3.5” floppy drives, a million shades of green monitor, and I was in love!

This gift was the turning point in my creativity and curiosity. I began taking programming classes, and learned how to make my own little programs. I also began learning how computers worked.

From there, I grew with computers and the internet. I began working with graphic programs as they came out, and taught myself how to create websites by hand typing the HTML in notepad.

My first graphic and web offerings were primitive by today’s standards. I found a lot of enjoyment by “dolling” which is taking a body base made by another, and then “dressing” the base. Working with these graphics taught me a lot about shading, movement, and composition.

My earliest sites were created to showcase these digital dolls. Before learning how to slice in Photoshop, or use the shortcuts of Dreamweaver, I created my websites by drawing the site by hand, cutting the pieces out, and then hand coding the html in Notepad.

These days I create magazines, advertisements, websites, logos, print media and more!
